Cute Things Your Cat Will Do This Year

January 1, 2023

Happy New Year! The start of a new year is always a time for people to look back over the past 12 months, and make some predictions for the next 12. We’ll leave discussions about politics and celebrities to others, but we do have an idea of what some of our feline patients will be up to. A local Olympia, WA vet lists some of the cuter things on your kitty’s agenda in this article.

Blep

You may not have heard the term blep before, but you’ve probably seen it. Blepping is when cats stick their tongues out and just kind of … leave them there. There are many possible causes for bleps: the most likely one seems to be that this happens when Fluffy is tasting something, and then forgets her tongue is hanging out. That said, bleps can occasionally signal health issues: if your pet is continuously blepping, talk to your vet.

Zoom

Fluffy is probably going to sleep through most of 2023 … and 2024, 2025, and so on. However, your feline pal can’t spend all of her time snoozing. Every now and then, she’ll start acting playful and silly at random times. She may sprint down the hall in the middle of the night, or start batting a leaf around.

Love Bites

One of the many interesting things about cats? They are the only one of our animal companions that bite us to show affection. Fluffy will probably give you a little nip at some point this year. Of course, if your furry little buddy is biting aggressively, you’ll want to talk to your vet or a kitty behaviorist.

Talk Back

Just like people, cats all have their own vocal styles and patterns, and some are just louder than others. However, even the quietest furball occasionally has something to say. Fluffy also tends to give her humans an earful if they are late with her dinner.

Amuse The Humans

Our feline friends are definitely entertaining. It’s safe to say that Fluffy will keep you smiling throughout the year with her cute antics. Keep that motor going! Pay lots of attention to your furry pal, and pamper her with toys, treats, and, of course, catnip.

All of us here at Olympia, your Olympia, WA animal clinic, wish you a wonderful new year. Please feel free to contact us anytime!
