Holiday Gifts For Frisky Cats

December 15, 2022
Season’s Greetings! Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Don’t forget to pick up something for Fluffy! An Olympia, WA vet lists some things you can offer your feline buddy in this article.

Catnip

No surprises here: Fluffy has not yet tired of her favorite plant. However, there are now many options that go beyond simple catnip mice. You can get your kitty catnip bubbles, catnip sprays, or even a live plant! If your feline pal doesn’t seem impressed by ‘nip, get her some honeysuckle instead.

Towers

If there is one piece of purrniture that every furball should have, it’s a cat tower. These not only help keep your furry buddy fit and active, they also provide her with a scratching post, lookout point, and napping spot.

Kitty Wheels

You’ve probably noticed that exercise wheels are pretty much the standard accessory for pocket pets. However, did you know that they also make some for cats? This can be a cute way for your kitty to burn off some zoomies. (It probably won’t be long before someone figures out how to make Fluffy’s running wheel double as a phone-charging device, but that’s another topic.)

Harness

Did you know that many kitties actually enjoy going for walks on leashes? This isn’t going to be right for all of our feline overlords. If Fluffy is a senior that has always been an indoor pet, or perhaps is just very shy, it’s probably best to just let sleeping cats lie. However, many athletic, outgoing furballs like going for strolls. Ask your vet for more information, including training tips.

Boxes

We may never exactly sort out why our furry pals are so obsessed with boxes, but it’s safe to say it will never stop being adorable. Give Fluffy some of the empties after everyone has opened their gifts. This can make for some super cute seasonal pictures!

Toys

The pet toy industry has undergone a bit of a high-tech renaissance over the last few decades. You can find all sorts of gadgets for kitties, from automated laser pointers to remote-controlled toys.

Treats

No surprises here: treats are a great go-to gift for our furry friends. Just stick with safe options! Ask your vet for recommendations. All of us here at Olympia Veterinary Hospital, your local Olympia, WA animal clinic, wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Please contact us anytime!
