Help your puppy grow into a calm, confident veterinary patient.

This class focuses on preventative training, creating positive experiences with veterinary handling before fear or anxiety develop. Puppies are gently introduced to:

• Mock physical exams and restraint practice
• Desensitization to nail trims, teeth brushing, and handling from strangers
• Comfort in exam equipment (such as exam troughs for radiographs and ultrasounds)
• Walking on a slip lead
• Safe, structured socialization with other puppies
• Foundational attention skills like reliable name response

Meet Your Instructor

Brittany McCaffery, is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Olympia Veterinary Hospital. You may recognize her from doctor drop-off check-ins, technician appointments and exams, or from performing dental procedures.

In addition to her veterinary background, Brittany has been an AKC positive reinforcement dog trainer for 12 years. Her combined medical and training expertise allows her to bridge the gap between behavior and veterinary care — helping puppies build lifelong confidence in the hospital setting.

Safe & Structured Socialization

We ensure:

• All participating puppies meet vaccine requirements
• Puppies are healthy prior to attending
• Play sessions are monitored by experienced veterinary professionals
• Owners learn to recognize appropriate canine body language

Early socialization helps reduce the risk of fear-based behaviors and reactivity later in life. While foundational obedience training remains important, this class complements it by pairing socialization with veterinary-specific preparation.

Class Details

• Ages: 3–8 months
• Requirements: First and second booster vaccines completed
• Time: The first & last Friday of each month from 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM
• Cost: $45 per puppy
• Location: Olympia Veterinary Hospital
